Furry friends

Just sat here remembering all of your pets over the years. First came 'Pussy Cat Willum', a ring-tailed tom, who I have since discovered was named after a 1960's glove puppet. He would lie on the rug with his head on our dog, Judy the Jack Russell. They looked cosy curled up together, but sometimes had to be moved when we could smell burning, as Willum's tail would rise up and creep into the elements of the gas fire and start to singe! Then came Sinbad (the black devil cat), whom you absolutely adored, but everyone else in the road approached with caution. He could be most grumpy at times and took to lying curled up in the road, particularly on warm days. Drivers would have to stop their cars and try to move him, but if he wasn't in the mood, watch out! Lastly came Hinge, the beautiful and very short-legged tabby, whom we adopted when the family of my boyfriend of the time was posted with the army to Norway. She was originally part of a pair, but sadly she had lost her sister Bracket. Your pets gave you so much joy over the years and when you felt you could no longer have a pet of your own, you took great pleasure in supporting Battersea Dogs and Cats home. Every time an envelope came through your door you would get out your cheque book and make a donation. Mum, your legacy lives on. xxxx
